Import a paper logbook into ForeFlight
Photograph or scan each paper spread, review the flights, then open the Export tab. Download the ForeFlight file. It keeps ForeFlight’s template rows. In ForeFlight, open Logbook, choose import, and confirm the preview. Dates in the Generic CSV are YYYY-MM-DD. Day and night landing counts go in the full-stop landing columns, because a paper logbook does not record full-stop versus touch-and-go. We do not send the file into your ForeFlight account.

- What date format do you need for the ForeFlight logbook import CSV file?
- The Date column in the Generic CSV is YYYY-MM-DD, for example 2024-03-15. Flight times are decimal hours, so an hour and a half is 1.5. When ForeFlight shows the import preview, confirm that each date landed on the right day before you commit the import. If that preview expects a different pattern, change only the Date column in a spreadsheet and leave the other headers as they are.
- How do I convert my logbook to ForeFlight?

- The file you export here is a Generic CSV: comma-separated, with a header row and 21 columns. In LogTen Pro, open Import (or File → Import), choose CSV or delimited text, and map the columns. - What fields are included in the Generic CSV export?
- The Generic CSV export includes 21 columns: Date, Aircraft Make & Model, Tail Number, Departure, Arrival, Route, Day Landings, Night Landings, Instrument Approaches, Airplane Single Engine, Night, Cross Country (All), Cross Country (Over 50 NM), PIC, Solo, Flight Simulator, Dual Received, Instructor Time, Instrument, Total Time, and Remarks.
- Do I need to reformat the CSV file before importing?
- Usually no. The CSV uses standard column names and comma delimiters. Most apps accept it after a quick mapping review. MyFlightbook and similar tools may ask you to match the columns once if they expect a different template. You are still importing the same Generic CSV; you are only telling the app which column is which.
- What are the two Cross Country columns?
- The Jeppesen logbook has two Cross Country sub-columns: "All" for total cross country time and "Over 50 NM" for cross country flights exceeding 50 nautical miles. Both values are extracted and exported as separate CSV columns.
- Can I export my data multiple times?
- Yes. You can download the Generic CSV or the ForeFlight file as many times as you need without re-scanning or re-processing your logbook pages, and downloading again does not use a credit.
