Is my logbook supported?
Honest scope for paper formats we OCR today, what you get on export, and what to do if your book is not listed yet.
Formats we OCR today
- Jeppesen — primary OCR target. Layout-tuned for standard Jeppesen professional logbook page spreads. Choose Jeppesen when uploading.
- ASA Standard Pilot Log — supported via the format selector at upload. Choose ASA Standard Pilot Log so the correct extraction pack is used.
Other paper logbooks (CASA-style, custom binders, scanned PDFs from unknown layouts, etc.) are not OCR-tuned yet. Uploading them as Jeppesen/ASA may produce poor results — we would rather say so up front than over-promise.
What you get after digitizing
Successful pages export as a Generic CSV with 21 columns that mirror a standard Jeppesen-style layout. You import that CSV into electronic logbook apps such as ForeFlight, LogTen Pro, or MyFlightbook — we do not ship app-native proprietary export files in this release.
See the export & import guide for step-by-step import tips.
Photo quality still matters
Even supported formats fail when photos are skewed, shadowed, or only show one page of a spread. Follow the logbook photo guide before a full-book upload. You are only charged a credit when processing succeeds.
If your format is not listed
- Email support@flightlogconverter.com with the publisher/name of your logbook (and a sample page photo if you are comfortable sharing one).
- Do not buy a large credit pack hoping an unsupported layout will “just work.”
- Use your free trial credits only after confirming the format selector matches your book.
Quick answers
- Is my logbook supported?
- Jeppesen logbooks are the primary OCR target. ASA Standard Pilot Log pages are also supported via the format selector at upload. Other paper formats are not OCR-tuned yet.
- How do I digitize a Jeppesen logbook?
- Photograph each two-page Jeppesen spread, choose Jeppesen at upload, review the extracted flights, then export Generic CSV. Import that CSV into your electronic logbook — we do not ship a ForeFlight-native file.
- How do I digitize an ASA logbook?
- Use the same photo-in flow, but choose ASA Standard Pilot Log at upload so the ASA extraction pack runs. Column layouts differ from Jeppesen; picking the wrong format degrades accuracy.
- What if my format is not Jeppesen or ASA?
- Do not buy a large credit pack hoping an unsupported layout will work. Email support@flightlogconverter.com with the publisher or name of your book. Other paper formats (CASA-style, custom binders, unknown scans) are not OCR-tuned yet.
- Do you support ForeFlight as an export format?
- We export Generic CSV. ForeFlight (and similar apps) typically import CSV — that is the supported path today.
- Can I digitize a mixed logbook (several publishers)?
- Process each section with the matching format when available. Unsupported sections should wait until we add a pack or you contact support.
- Is ASA the same as Jeppesen?
- No. Column layouts differ. Pick the correct format at upload so the right OCR pack runs.
